It is with profound sadness that the family of Susan Hardie announces her passing on November 27, 2009.
She was born in Oshawa, Ontario, but lived most of her younger life in Dryden. When she was 18 she moved to Winnipeg to start her life with her husband, and further her education. Susan then moved back to Dryden where she became well known for her work at the Hoshizaki House Women’s Shelter for the next 22 years.
Susan enjoyed creating her flower gardens around her home in the summer months, as well as going for long motorcycle rides with her husband.
Susan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; who always looked toward the positive in life. She was very well known for her free-spirit, and was much loved within the community. Susan was a genuinely good-hearted individual who was always putting others ahead of herself. Although she left us way too soon, she lives on in our hearts forever, and watches over us from above.
She leaves behind her husband Dan of 30 years, her children Matthew, Chelsea, Jordan and her beloved granddaughter Keirsten. Her sister Lynne (Phil), nephews Jesse and Zach, niece Brooke (daughter Evee), and her father Bill.
Susan will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
A memorial service was held Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Dryden with Archdeacon Cleghorn officating.
Interment at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Hoshizaki House Crisis Shelter, through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
