Wednesday’s hockey game saw a 6-0 win for your Dryden GM Ice Dogs against the Red Lake Miners here at the Dryden Memorial Arena.
Malcolm Huemmert started the streak with a goal just over four minutes into the game. Evan Pakkala slipped the puck in ten minutes later to wrap up the first period with a 2-0 lead for the Ice Dogs. The second period saw its first goal just under five minutes in, courtesy of Eric Stout, and three minutes later Jason Siebenga scored the fourth.
Third period was a scramble for the upper hand as the Dogs and the Miners scraped up 18 penalties between them, but ten minutes in Stout gained another goal on a power play. Less than a minute later, Braden Shea ensured the Ice Dogs victory with the sixth and last goal.
The Miners had 30 shots on the Ice Dogs’ net, all saved by goalie Jacob Anthony, while Miners’ goalie Vince Benedetto saved 54 of the 60 shots on the net.
Friday and Saturday’s games against the Fort Frances Lakers were postponed due to bus scheduling, but the cancelled game from Saturday, January 26 against the Fort Frances Lakers has been rescheduled for February 24 at the Dryden Memorial Arena.
