Legion Pool League caps successful year

The Dryden Legion Pool League held its windup for the 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, April 10th. This year marked was the second season for the league which started on Oct. 23 and ran for a 22 week period ending on April 3, 2018.

The league had 24 players participate for weekly competition held on Tuesday Evenings in the downstairs lounge at the Dryden Legion and all enjoyed the friendly competition making the year a very successful one. The League mandate is to promote the growth of the sport in the area and to enhance activities at the Dryden Legion.

This season facilities were able to be upgraded due to a partnership between the league and the Legion as well as generous donations from many players who support the sport of pool in the Dryden Area. Enhancements included a new table, resurfacing of the existing tables as well as new balls , cues and maintenance equipment. The Legion now boast some of the best facilities in the region and is planning on hosting several regional tournaments in the future. The first planned tournament is set for May 26-27th and will host up to 32 players.

League Awards were as follows:

Champion – Pat Daignault

Runner Up – Gerard MacIssac

3rd – Dave Von Bargen

4th – Cam McMillan

5th & 6th – Keith Kerney and  Ken Pakarinen

7th & 8th – Marcus Ledsham and Bob Hollstedt

The league organizers are working with the Legion and planning is underway for next season already. The 2018-2019 season will get underway in late October with registration to be held sometime in September.
