The Dryden GM Ice Dogs were in action against the Miners this week for a single game at the Cochenour Arena on Friday.
Ted Davis opened the scoring for the Ice Dogs off an assist from Evan Walls. 10 minutes later Dante Tisi tied the game for the English River Miners.
In the second period Jacob Siebenga got the Miners their first lead of the game.
Just over five minutes later Connor Mowatt tied the game and Jacen Bracko got the Ice Dogs ahead a few minutes later on a power play marker.
Just over 12 minutes into the third period Siebenga added another goal for English River. Less than two minutes later they found another goal from Sam Cirone on the power play. It would prove to be enough to defeat the Ice Dogs.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are back at home for games on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, with the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Dryden less than two months away, The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, in conjunction with the Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Superior International Junior Hockey League, announced last Thursday that Cochrane, Ont., has been selected as the host community for the 2019 Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canadian Jr. A Championship.
The town and the NOJHL’s Cochrane Crunch will host the four-team event, April 30 through May 4, 2019, at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
