Eagles skiers perform well at Nordic OFSAA

Dryden High School Eagles Nordic skiers were among 713 athletes gathered to try their hand at provincial level competition last week at Sudbury’s Laurentian Nordic Centre.

The Eagles best result came via Amy Wickstrom who finished her 5 kilometre distance in 19:23:8 for 82nd place among the senior girls, the best finish among NorWOSSA region athletes.

Her comrades Payton Zilkalns and Sarah Urquhart finished 93rd and 131st respectively in the same 5 km distance.

In the senior boys 7.5 kilometre race Nicholas Peters finished 118th, with Mike Leutschaft placng 168th. The top finisher from the region was Atikokan’s Kelyn Vos who finished 52nd with a time of 18:04:6.
