(Wilma) Joy Smegal (nee Romans) – November 15, 1931 – November 12, 2017

After a brief illness, Joy passed away Sunday night November 12th, 2017.  Joy’s greatest love was her husband Jim, children Rick, Tracy, son-in-law Brent and of course her numerous ‘’Critters’’ along her life’s path.

Many friends she met along the way since moving from Manitoba in 1978 to operate the Bayview Hotel with Jim have become more ‘’family’’ then just friends.  Joy loved her travel and cabin time but was happiest being around and caring for those she loved, putting others before herself.

Joy was predeceased by Jim in 2004 after more than 50 years of marriage. She is survived by son Rick, daughter Tracy and son-in-law Brent.  Joy is also survived by sister Audrey, brother Ron (Kathy), cousin Annette and their families.  Joy was extremely lucky to have both the Smegal and Romans families as one.

A very special Thanks to our “Sunshine” Sue for being part of mom’s life over the last few years, making her life a little bit brighter. There will be no service at this time, a Private Family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Points North Family Health Team in Vermilion Bay or Dryden Regional Health Centre through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON, P8N 2X3.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to dcfh@drytel.net subject heading: Smegal
