The Dryden GM Ice Dogs played a pair of games against the Fort Frances Lakers last week, one at home and one in Fort Frances.
The first game of the week took place in Dryden and the Lakers dominated the first period with three unanswered goals.
In the second period Jaedin Ness added another for the Lakers before Tristan Knott got the Dogs on the board.
In the third period Fort Frances added another in the first minute to put their lead at 5-1.
A pair of power play goals from Eric Stout and Jacen Bracko put the score at 5-3 and in the last minute of the game the Ice Dogs mounted a convincing come back with goals from Luke Bellerose and Trey Palermo to force extra time and a resulting shootout. With Bracko getting the lone goal for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs the Lakers won in the shootout getting two shots past Logan Sawka.
In Fort Frances on Friday night the Lakers once again struck first, but it would be their only point of the night.
Chris Atanas tied the game for the Ice Dogs in the first period and in the second period Bellerose scored in the first minute off an assist from Evan Walls. Walls scored later in the second period short handed and unassisted.
In the third period Walls gained two more points on his night with an assist to Wyatt Lawrence and a goal to close out the Dryden GM Ice Dogs night at 5-1.
The Ice Dogs are back in action Friday and Saturday night in Dryden, puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. for both games.
