Roger David Langanki – March 31, 1966 – September 10, 2017

Roger David Langanki, of Red Lake, Ontario, died suddenly of a heart condition on Sunday, September 10th, 2017.  Roger was born on March 31st, 1966 in Dryden, Ontario.  He was a member of the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation and attended Barclay Public School, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and Dryden High School. He also attended Confederation College where he received his Carpenter’s Papers. Roger often recounted the many lessons he learned as an apprentice with Uncle Willi and was very proud when his uncle told him you don’t need me, you know what to do! Roger’s work took him from Hackl Construction in Dryden to the Dryden Paper Mill and finally to Red Lake as a Carpenter for Goldcorp.

Roger was a very kind and generous soul, who always looked out for others and helped whenever he could. He enjoyed laughing and telling jokes with his friends and family. Roger is survived by his partner of 27 years, Debbie Hale and his stepson Dylan Hale. He was a devoted uncle to his niece Amy and nephew Zachary. He will be greatly missed by his brother Wayne Langanki and Avery and Wyatt from Sault Ste. Marie. Roger was a loyal son and nephew, he was predeceased by both his parents, Paul and Vina Langanki and his Aunt Viola (Hackl). Roger touched the lives of many and will be lovingly remembered by the Hackl Clan, especially Uncle Willi, Sheldon (Shelly), Alden (Heather), Eileen (Bryan), Chad, Ben and Alexa as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

One of Roger’s favourite pastimes was his love of music.  He was a talented guitar player who took great pleasure in playing and listening to blues and classic rock.  He was involved in Judo and Soccer when he was young and enjoyed hunting and golfing in his later years.  Roger will be missed and fondly remembered by both family and friends.

A family and friends visitation is planned for Tuesday, September 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home in Dryden, Ontario.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the same location. Refreshments will follow the service. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke or Diabetes Foundations or contributions to GoFundMe for Debbie Hale would also be much appreciated through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, On, P8N 2X3.
