Sadly, the family of Catharine (Kay) Martin announces her peaceful passing on January 18, 2016 at Princess Court, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Kay is survived by her daughter Carolyn Rowat (Mac), two grandsons Brad and Mitch and by two special great grandchildren, Tyler and Makenzie.
Kay was predeceased by her husband Bill on October 3, 2010.
Kay was born and raised in rural Manitoba. As a young adult, she moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Bill. They moved to Dryden in 1947 where Kay worked in retail sales for many years.
Kay revealed her artistic talents by painting in oils and acrylics. She enjoyed, in turn, macramé, petit-point, knitting and sewing. She spent her summers outdoors, gardening and nurturing beautiful roses.
Kay will be remembered for her love of children and animals, the wonderful meals she prepared and shared with us, and her love of her family.
We wish to thank Dr. Mazurski for the years of care, and the staff at Princess Court for their support and T.L.C. for the past seven years.
There will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and an interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
If friends desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society through Stevens Funeral Home, P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfurneralhomes .ca.
