Kenora MP Greg Rickford announced federal funding in support of The Dryden Entertainment Series (DES) to the tune of $24,000, on behalf of Canadian Heritage Minister Shelley Glover, Jan. 7.

The funds will assist the Series from 2015 into the 2017 season.

“I believe that long-term support is critical, expecially when you’re always booking a year ahead,” said DES’ Judith Hamilton. “It helps us bring a lot of very talented Canadian artists to a small northern community and it’s enjoyed by a diverse audience.”

The Dryden Entertainment Series (DES) showcases performers from a range of musical genres, as well as one dance and one theatre presentation per season. The featured artists come from across Canada.

The DES also facilitates six artist-led workshops per year in the community’s elementary and secondary schools and the Dryden Native Friendship Centre.
