You have to let the locals win sometimes.
Nevertheless, Dryden anglers were again among the top prize winners at this weekend’s Red Lake Fall Classic walleye tournament.
While they couldn’t quite match the exploits of Wabigoon’s Richard Wetelainen and Steve Parenteau who won the event in 2013, the team of Darren Wrolstad and Harold Price took second place coming in over three pounds behind the untouchable Red Lake duo of Terry Feriancek and Pat Wagner whose 10 fish, 33.54 lbs total grabbed the first prize purse of $12,000 plus prizes.
Wrolstad and Price took home $6,000 in cash and Hummingbird Fish Finders with their total of 30.36 lbs.
John Butts and Larry Meadows also had a good weekend, landing in fifth spot with 28.52 lbs and collecting a $2,000 prize.
Cory and Scott Roulston finished the weekend in seventh position at 27.79 lbs for a $1,600 prize and a two-night stay ant the Red Lake Super 8.
Dennis Wintle and Kevin Szachury edged their way into 10th place by 1/100 of a pound taking home a $1,000 prize.
