Athlete of the week at DHS is Grade 12, Martina Wintle.
She runs with the cross country team, followed by girls’ hockey, and girls’ soccer. In hockey, Wintle is a centre, while in soccer she plays midfield. She competed at OFSAA cross country running in Sudbury this past week. Wintle hopes to achieve the OFSAA experience for hockey and soccer as well for her Grade 12 year.
Her favourite memory of being an athlete at DHS is OFSAA cross country running in 2012. Scoring a shootout goal her Grade 9 year of Eagles’ hockey is also one of Wintle’s favourite memories. In the minimal spare time she has, she catches up on school work and enjoys being with her friends. While cross country season comes to an end, hockey season is just beginning for this multi-sport athlete.
Head down to the rink Nov. 26, 2013 to cheer on your Eagles girls hockey team in their first home game against the Fort Frances Muskies.

This past season didn’t bring Taylor to the playoff games, but his football skills have proven him to be a well-rounded athlete.
Taylor’s favourite memory on the field was every tackle he ever made during his high school career. Other than football, Taylor likes to go hunting and fishing and spends a lot of time at the gym.
To end the season, Taylor wishes his team went to the playoff games for all their hard work put on and off the field. Congratulations Douglas Taylor!
