I am a grade 11 student in DHS, I work at McDonald’s, and I babysit. I do volunteer work with my church helping with little kids.

My hobbies are skating, snowboarding, soccer, basketball, and hanging out with my two best friends Scott and Erin. I am in a few different sports including Cheerleading, Soccer, Cadets, and Biathlon. The club sponsoriong me is the Dryden Kinsmen Club. They are a great group of men that sponsor the “Still Me Program.” The “Still Me Program” helps people with cancer look and feel better about themselves.

Maissey Clement

Maissey Clement

My name is Maissey Clement, I’m 15 years old and running for the 2013 Kin Karnival queen contest, representing the Waldhof Wranglers.

I’m a grade 10 student attending Dryden High School and proud to be the first ever princess running for the Waldhof Wranglers. This club has been a great advantage to me and to the community to help it grow and become even stronger.

I was born and raised in Waldhof. My future goals and achievements in life are to graduate from high school and go to university to become a veterinarian. My love for animals is very important to me and I plan to contribute in helping them any way possible. Being a teenager in a small town you believe in having big dreams and I intend to make as many of them come true.

Just last year I joined the Manitoba high school rodeo and have been travelling around Manitoba competing in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and break away roping. I’m also a part of the Eagle Lake Figure Skating Club and have been since I was 5. Kin Karnival has been a great experience for me and I’m glad I was chosen to be a princess for my own club.

Emily Day

Emily Day

Hello, my name is Emily Day and I am representing the Vermilion Bay Kinsmen in this year’s Kin Karnival Queen Contest. I am currently 15 years old and attend Dryden High School. I previously attended Lillian Berg Public School and the Fine Arts Program at Pinewood Public School.

I am a member of the Eagle Lake Figure Skating Club and have been skating since I was three years old. I also enjoy track and field and spending my time outdoors. I am most interested in any type of science and plan to take biology, chemistry and physics throughout High School. After I graduate I plan to attend University, graduate with my Bachelor of Science and become a high school science teacher.

I am proud to be representing the Vermilion Bay Kinsmen Club this year. They are a hardworking group of men who serve our community’s greatest needs. This includes raising money for and completing small and large projects around our community. In conclusion, I am honoured to be a part of the Kin Karnival and look forward to participating in this year’s events. Kin Kin Kinoot!

Abigail Tourond

Abigail Tourond

My name is Abigail Tourond and the Eagle Lake Skating Club has sponsored me to be their princess.

I am 15 years old and currently attend Dryden High School. I’ve been a part of the Eagle Lake Skating Club basically my whole life considering my mom is the coach but actually started skating at the age of four.

The Eagle Lake Skating Club is now located at the Woodland Arena in Vermilion Bay.  The skating season usually starts in October and ends around April. Sessions are every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. I’m currently looking to become a lifeguard at the Dryden Recreation Centre and have been taking numerous courses to fulfill that goal.

I also volunteer as an assistant coach at the Eagle Lake Skating Club, as well as help out the younger skaters sometimes at the Dryden Skating Club. I enjoy many other activities besides skating such as swimming, camping, tubing, snowmachining and fishing!

One of my favourite places to be in the summer is the beach. I live with my mom, dad and 2 sisters in Vermilion Bay. I also attended the Fine Arts Program at Pinewood School for three years until I graduated elementary school. I played percussion in my music class. I’m glad I am running in this contest because two of my best friends are also running this year and I think it will be a great experience for all of us! I wish everyone the best!
