Tom was born in Dryden on November 8th, 1955 where he lived most of his life.

Tom lived a fulfilling life attending Dryden High and graduating in 1973. He went on to Ryerson University in 1975. He then worked as a Public Health Inspector in Red Lake and Wadena, Saskatchewan. He also went to Northern College in Kapuskasing to carpentry school, and then came home to work on the Pipeline for several years before returning as a public health inspector in 1990.

Tom did everything like it was an adventure and with a great joy, such as fishing, hunting, gardening, skiing, and in his earlier years playing baseball. This was no different when Tom and Loretta decided to have a family. On January 25, 1999, they were blessed with triplet boys. They were not only his pride and joy; they were to be his legacy which he took very seriously. Tom was determined to be the best husband and father by teaching his wife and sons the pleasures and benefits in gardening, fishing and hunting among many things. Tom also took much pleasure in coaching his sons in hockey and as much as these life skills were important to Tom, so was his faith. It was important to teach his children who God is by reading his Bible and living out his faith by example. Not only were these truths and adventures something he wanted to teach his family but he would share his faith with anyone.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the many people who helped to make these last few years easier for us, Dr. D. Szwajcer and his team at the Cancer Care Unit in Manitoba, Dr. Dahmer, Jennifer and Cathy in Oncology and all the wonderful nurses at Dryden Regional Health Centre, Barb Lindquist and the nursing staff at CCAC and Revera, our families, NWHU family, hockey families and church family and friends.

A celebration of Tom’s Life was held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor James Wood officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Yorston, Sigurd Olson, Fred Wolff, Vern Jacobson, Shane Baker and Doug Bullock.
