Club team volleyball is back in Dryden as the Whiskey Jacks took two under-14 teams to a Winnipeg tournament, Apr 21-22.

The Manitoba Volleyball Association’s Provincial Championship featured 51 teams.

The Whiskey Jacks “Grey” played four round robin matches versus Shock, Wesmen Red, Hawks, and Aztecs Black and placed fifth in their pool.

The Grey squad clearly improved during the tournament and played their best match so far in their first playoff match. The girls lost a hard match to Smash 20-25, 24-26 in the first round of the playoffs and did not advance.

The Whiskey Jacks “Burgundy” played 3 round robin matches against Aztecs Gold, Junior Bisons, and PVVC Love, placing fourth in their pool and advancing to the C-side playoffs.

They won their three playoff matches including the quarter finals versus Cats 25-7, 25-15; the semi finals versus Vision 25-20, 25-22; and the C-side Finals versus Aztecs Black 25-21, 22-25, 15-6

We were very happy to finish our tournament with fun challenging wins.

The Whiskey Jacks 14U return to tournament action in Winnipeg, May 5.

The 16U Whiskey Jacks played at provincials in Brandon on Apr 27-28, the results of which were not available at press time.
