Following a hugely successful inaugural event in 2011, the 2012 DHS Track and Field Invitational is set to vault classic athletic events into the spotlight once again, May 15.
Harry McMaster Field will play host to local and regional secondary and elementary students to compete in track events like the 100m, 100m hurdles, 400m, 800m 1500m 4x 100m relay, and 4x400m relay. Field events staged will include Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and High Jump.
Organizer and DHS running coach Mike Wood says he hopes to draw out a few more parent volunteers this season.
“We were more than surprised with the interest last year, and expect even more entries this year,” said Wood. “We would certainly welcome as much help as we can get with officiating, marshalling, timing, and results recording.”
