The Ontario Ministry of Finance recently released its annual Public Salary Disclosure for 2011, known in popular parlance as The Sunshine List.

The Public Sector Salaries Disclosure Act requires organizations that receive public funding to disclose the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid over $100,000 in a calendar year.

As in previous years, the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board featured the most sunshine salaries with a total of 50 employees earning over $100,000. The KPDSB’s top paid employee was Director of Education Jack McMaster ($189,999.94).

The region’s top paid public official was Northwest Catholic District School Board Director of Education Mary Catherine Kelly whose salary was recorded at $214,055.

Dryden Regional Health Centre CEO Wade Petranik led his organization in salary at $173,149.70.

The City of Dryden posed 10 sunshine salaries, seven of which could be accounted for by the Dryden Police Service. The top paid city official in 2011 was now retired police chief Shayne MacKinnon ($153,816.17).
