The Dryden High School wrestling team competed in a tournament in Winnipeg at Grant Park High School on Feb. 10 and 11. The team took home three gold medals, five silver medals, and four bronze medals.
Two junior wrestlers from the club attended as well, including Nick Trist, Grade 8, and Joey Robinson, Grade 4, to participate in the junior tournament on Friday evening. Both wrestled really well for only their second tournament ever, and impressively Trist took home a bronze medal.
This was the last season tournament before the team leaves for NWOSSA this week in Thunder Bay. The group will have weigh-ins on Feb. 16 and the tournament on Feb. 17.
Assistant coach, Jessyca Gauthier says they have a competitive team this year, and expect to be sending some wrestlers to OFSAA.
