Mrs. Vivianna Maria Brown, age 74 years, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.Viv was born on July 30, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, moving to Sioux Lookout at an early age.
She taught in Hudson and Sioux Lookout for two years and then moved to Dryden after her marriage to Terry M. Brown on September 14, 1957. They resided there for twenty-five years then relocated to Thunder Bay. Viv and Terry wintered at Viewpoint RV Resort in Mesa, Arizona for many years. Viv was an avid golfer and curler. She was a member of the FW Country Club. She enjoyed hiking, bird watching, crossword puzzles, and “Jeopardy”. She was an active member of St. Dominic’s Church, Thunder Bay serving as lector and the Monday morning collection counting group. She was a long time member of the CWL at St. Joseph’s Church, Dryden and St. Dominic’s. She was a volunteer at Grandview Lodge Home for the Aged.
Vivianna is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Terry; children Joseph (Sandra) of Ottawa, Sharon Spalding (Larry) of Dryden, and Alan (Rachel) of Thunder Bay. Nonna to seven grandchildren, Shawndel (Scott) Polhill, Brian (Shauna) Spalding, Carolyn Spalding, Eric and Emily Brown, Hannah and AJ Brown (and their mother Denise Brown), and two step-grandchildren Jay and Jylian Hanson. Bis-Nonna to JJ, Matthew, and Skyla. Sisters Loretta (Doug) Kitt, Paula (John) McParland of Thunder Bay, Dolores (Alan) Armstrong of Pembroke, and Luanna (Bill) Quirk of Newmarket.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Irma Bellon, in-laws Joe and Lil Brown and niece Kim Armstrong.
Funeral services for the late Vivianna Brown were held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, when family and friends gathered for funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m., at St. Dominic’s Church celebrated by Rev. Victor DeGagne. Vigil Prayers were offered on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. in St. Dominic’s Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vivianna to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Vivianna Brown in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 9, 2013.
