Emilie is survived by her son Jim (Glenda) Borger and daughter Janice (Holger) Krutzelmann; her siblings Betty Borger of Dryden, Pat Watson of Thunder Bay, and Wilfred Bender of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristine (Dave) Canty, Kim (George) Demers, Daniel Krutzelmann, Katie Krutzelmann, and Emily Krutzelmann, and great-grandchildren Curtis Canty, Aidan Canty, Catherine Demers, and Andrea Demers.
Emilie was predeceased by her parents Henry and Emilie Bender; husband Donald Borger; brothers Hank Bender, Clarence Bender, and sister Vera Smith.
Emilie was born December 13, 1919 in Menno, South Dakota and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she met her husband Donald Borger. In 1945 they moved to Mando camp just north of Red Lake Road for three years, then moved to Dryden in 1950. In 1963 they moved to Red Lake to start the family business Trans Canada Motors.
Emilie’s husband passed away in 1985 but she remained in Red Lake.
Emilie was always actively volunteering for different organizations such as the Hospital Guild, Meals on Wheels, Red Lake United Church Board, singing in the choir and an active member of the United Church Women’s League. She was extremely proud to be a charter member of the Red Lake Lions Club since 1974.
A funeral service for Emilie Borger was held at the Chukuni Anglican/United Church Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Loyal officiating. Interment followed in the Red Lake Cemetery. Visitation was held at Herold Funeral Home on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Northwood Lodge for the excellent care given to Emilie over the years. Your thoughtfulness and kindness expressed to her will never be forgotten.
