Florence Savage, age 88 years, of Ear Falls, Ontario passed away in hospital in Thunder Bay on Thursday, December 15, 2011.Flo was born on April 15, 1923. She spent many years in Minaki, Ontario were she raised her family. She was very proud of her work as the Head Housekeeper at the Minaki Lodge. She had many strong friendships from Minaki that lasted all her life. In her later years she lived in Dryden and Kenora, but settled in Ear Falls to be close to her daughter Janice and son Johnny. She loved to craft, which led to her donating many items to charity, especially for cancer. Flo was a woman of great faith, steadfast loyalty, strong opinion, good humour and deep love.
She is survived by her daughters Janice Epp (George), Judi Neufeld (Gilbert), and son Jerry Burns (Lise); 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister Elaine Thompson (Clare), and brothers Bill Neill (Pat), and Sydney Neill (Sophie). Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other relatives here and in England.
Flo was predeceased by her spouse John Burns in 1969; parents Robert Hewitson and Agnes and Albert Neill; sisters Bessie Shultz, Phyllis Nystrom, Joan Danier; brother Robert Hewitson; son John Burns, and grand-daughter Tammy Burns.
Flo has requested there be no funeral. She would like you to remember her with a cup of coffee or tea at your leisure. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. If friends so desire memorial donations to Tamarack House or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Flo really appreciated the care of homecare workers, paramedics, nurses, doctors and hospital staff. She would especially like to say thank you for the kindness of her friends who did so much for her and were such a special part of her life.
