Newly appointed Kenora-Rainy River District MPP, Sarah Campbell has been appointed as the critic for the Natural Resources and Aboriginal Affairs.
MPP Michael Gravelle of Thunder Bay was appointed to the position of Minister of Natural Resources, and Kathleen Wynne of Don Valley West now holds the position of Minister of Aboriginal Affairs.
“Andrea (Horwath) did ask us in advance which critic portfolios we would be most interested in, and actually I got my top two picks, so I was very pleased for that,” said Campbell.  “There is no doubt about it that both of these critic portfolios have a large impact on our way of life in northwestern Ontario, and Kenora-Rainy River in particular.”
Gravelle said, “I am looking forward to working with her.  I haven’t met Sarah yet, but I certainly want to reach out to the opposition parties.  With Sarah as my critic directly for my ministry responsibilities, I am looking forward to working with her.”
Gravelle says there are many opportunities in northern Ontario and many opportunities for the Ministry of Natural Resources.
“Our priority is jobs and economy of northern Ontario and I look forward to working in a very positive way with Ms. Campbell,” said Gravelle.
Gravelle and Campbell both comment that they were not entirely surprised by the close proximity of Minister and critic, and both express their desire to work together for the betterment of the region.
