Local youth makes TV appearance Friday

Six year-old Teegan Szachury will dance at The Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards, Nov. 4.

The family and friends of six-year-old Teegan Szachury will have their eyes glued to the TV set, Friday hoping for a glimpse of the young Dryden area traditional native dancer.
After a friend from Eagle Lake told her about a casting call, Mom Melissa Szachury submitted Teegan’s name to the Aboriginal People Choice Music Awards. Teegan was one of 100 youth between the ages of six and 17 chosen to dance at the nationally televised event that is being staged at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre.
For Teegan, it will be his biggest show, to date — surpassing the pinnacle of his early career at the Eagle Lake Pow Wow.
The Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards airs at 8 p.m. locally on the APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network), channel 80 on cable.
