Local dancers can audition for Motus O’s A Christmas Carol

Former Dryden area resident Katharine Bourgon is bringing Motus O dance theatre to Dryden to perform their family-friendly version of A Christmas Carol.
Part of a three community tour which will see Motus O perform in Sioux Lookout and in Thunder Bay, the show will be staged in Dryden on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Dryden Regional Training and Cultural Centre.
The dance troupe’s travel costs have been partially covered by a grant from the Ontario Arts Council.
Local children, youths, and adults in each community are invited to join the professional actors and dancers of Motus O.
In Dryden, this audition will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. at The Centre.
Training will continue until 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. The dress rehearsal will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m. with the performance the following evening.

Bourgon has recently relocated to the Guelph area of Ontario but has strong ties to Dryden’s dance community after spending over twenty years as a regional performer, educator, and adjudicator. She recently collaborated with Motus O for two years during their creation of her full-length dance work entitled Phoenix Rising which debuted in May in Thunder Bay.
She is now training in the contemporary style at Dancetheatre David Earle, exploring contact improvisation with Fall on Your Feet dance lab, and will appear in A Christmas Carol in Dryden.
