James Cyril (Jim) Hammond

In loving memory of James Cyril (Jim) Hammond, age 52 of Dryden, who passed away on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Jim is survived by his parents Bob and Chum; his wife Sharon Timson; son Michael (Elizabeth) Hammond of Lorette, MB; brother Doug (Diane) Hammond; sister Trudy (Doug) Sachowski of Eagle River; step-children, Tia (Dennis) Acuna of Winnipeg, Amy (Mark) Biebrich of Winnipeg and Gini (Sheldon) Hyatt of Calgary. He is also survived by grandchildren Camryn, Anna, Paige, Evan, Belicia, Javier, Kai, Kaos, Kali, and nieces Blaire Griffiths, Karly and Alissa Hammond.

Jim was predeceased by his youngest son Brendon in 1996.

Jim was a beloved son, father, soul mate, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Jim was an uncle to many. He was a loyal friend to everyone. He cherished his friendships.

Our family is a circle of strength and love, with every birth and every union, the circle will grow, every joy shared, adds more love, every crisis faced together, makes the circle stronger. That was evident in Jim’s last days. He was surrounded by family and that circle of strength as he left this world.

Jim fought more than a few courageous battles. He drew great strength from the AA philosophies and his AA family. He was a pillar for others who were on the same path. He made these difficult choices and he stuck with them. We were so proud to attend and celebrate his AA birthday with him, every year – for 11 years.

Jim worked for the family business, B&M Delivery Service for most of his life. The later years he worked in the trucking industry and most recently for Fenwick Chipping.

Jim … we love you for forever, we like you for always – for ever and ever in our hearts you will be.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Father Richard Kennedy officiating. Pallbearers, Maurice LeSage, Art Dustin, Fred Helbling, Guy Nault, Harold Delorme and Mike Daignault.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memoriam donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Research Fund through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave. Dryden, ON P8N 2X3. Expressions of Sympathy may be sent to dcfh@drytel.net Subject heading: Hammond.
