In loving memory of Verna May Simard, age 50 of Vancouver, BC, who passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011.Verna May is survived by her children, Marcel & Shawn Shabaquay, Monique & Jesse Ranville, and granddaughter Ellissa Rose Shabaquay and brother Cecil Simard.
She was predeceased by her parents Charles & Tina, son Reggie, and brother Mitchell.
Verna May’s hobbies were doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and listening to Country music. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, reading, writing and Bannock making.
She worked at the Empress Hotel as a waitress and was a customer service rep. at the Vancouver Bottle Depot.
Visitation was held Friday, September 23rd, 2011 at the Wabigoon Lake First Nation Community Hall from 6 p.m. until the time of service.
A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, September 25th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wabigoon Lake First Nation Community Hall with Native Elder Gilbert Smith officiating.
Interment followed in the Wabigoon First Nation Cemetery.
If desired, memoriam donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
