Obituaries — 05 October 2011
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are Ruth, his loving wife of 65 years; his son Robert Gerhard Eisbrenner (Daisy) (and family Cecelia, Patty and Clint); daughter Anni Donald (Allan); his brother Emil Eisbrenner; sisters Hilde Greuner and Marta Kinitz.
Robert was born in Luzk, Wolhynia, Poland. He served in the German army during WWII, was wounded and after a lengthy hospital stay went home to his family, who in the meantime had become refugees and were relocated in East Germany. He escaped East Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1951 to provide a better life for himself and his family.
He arrived in Halifax by ship and took a train to Hilda, Alberta to work off his passage at a local farm. After this time he relocated with his family to the Amesdale, Ontario area where he worked for Herz and Herbert in the forest industry. He later moved to Quibell and the Red Lake Road area. He was employed by Colenso Lumber and later on Reed Paper Company.
After retiring he tended to his hobbies of bringing home trees from the bush for firewood. He did this until the age of 89. He especially enjoyed gardening and loved his flowers. He spent many hours working in his greenhouse and grew bountiful tomatoes and cucumbers.
He was a faithful member of the Upper Falls Baptist Church since 1955.
A funeral service was held at Upper Falls Baptist Church, October 1st, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Toews officiating. Interment followed in the Upper Falls Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to the Stevens Funeral Homes Moffat Chapel, P.O. Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject: Eisbrenner
