Eagles boys take gold at home

The Dryden Eagles hosted the Pumpkin Smash, a Junior Boys Volleyball Tournament on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Dryden High School.
With participants from Thomas Aquinas, Pickle Lake, Churchill (Thunder Bay), Beaver Brae, Pelican Falls, Fort Frances, La Verendrye, White Fish Bay and Westgate, the DHS?Eagles took home the gold.
Defeating Beaver Brae in the semi-finals, Thomas Aquinas saw a win over La Verendrye taking them to the semi-finals as well.
In the consolation finals, Beaver Brae defeated La Verendrye in three sets to take the consolation championship.
The final game came down to the Dryden Eagles and St. Thomas Aquinas.  Playing three sets with scores of 25-14, 15-25 and 15-11, the Dryden Eagles took the championship.
