Dryden Police Services Board Chair Bill Hovi announced the appointment of a new chief of police for the community, early this week.

Mr. Rob Davis will be installed to the post effective Aug. 29.

Mr. Davis has extensive experience in policing, particularly with aboriginal issues and combating organized crime. He has worked in a senior management capacity and supervised multi-detachment policing arrangements in Ontario.

He has been recognized for the quality of his work and leadership by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Police Association having received their prestigious Gimborn Scholarship that allowed him to study international policing in Germany earlier this year.

Mr. Davis has served with the RCMP at the Canadian Police College where he has taught personnel from domestic and international police agencies. He has served in auxiliary policing and in-service training roles in the Haldimand-Norfolk Regional Police Service and the Niagara Regional Police Service. He has also served as an adjunct instructor at the Niagara College in the police foundations program.

“Mr. Davis and his family have ties to the Dryden area and he is familiar with the particular challenges of living and policing in remote areas,” said Hovi.

Under the leadership of Chief Davis, and working within the strategic framework established by the Dryden Police Services Board, the sworn and civilian members of the Service will continue to provide a high quality, community-based approach to policing in Dryden.
