Culture & Events — 01 June 2011

After a rousing success on their first attempt, the Dryden Camera Club will host another session teaching the basics of photography, on Saturday, June 11.

Those interested must register and pay a small fee in advance at The Camera Corner in downtown Dryden. The all-day event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m., June 11 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Cecil Ave. in North Dryden.

The day is designed to offer camera users some fundamental knowledge through which to explore and better understand the capabilities of their digital SLR cameras as well as simpler point and shoot cameras.

Participants are encouraged to bring their camera’s manual along with their camera.

Topics for the day include discussing camera types and the benefits or disadvantages of each; using camera settings to achieve different photographic effects and when to consider employing certain techniques.

Image composition, the art of placing and organizing parts of your picture into the scene will be discussed. Lighting will be touched upon as well as general photographic techniques that can elevate your ‘snapshots’ to a higher level.

Participation is limited to just 20 people, so don’t miss out on this chance to improve your picture taking ability.
