Obituaries — 11 May 2011
John Potter passed away on Monday, May 2nd at home with his family by his side.
John was born to Frank and Ester Potter and lived in Eton Rugby and Oxdrift.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of 54 years, his sons Ralph and Richard, daughter Janice Arbuckle (Murray) all of Dryden, grandchildren Shirley Arbuckle (Shane)  of Thunder Bay, Sam Arbuckle (Crystal)  of Dryden and Michael Potter of Winnipeg. His brothers, Tom (Jean), Clarence, Wilbert (Kathy) all of Dryden; sister Bertha from Alberta, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ester Potter; brothers, Jim, Roy, and George; sisters, Emily, Florence, Mable, Edith and Myrtle.
John used to cut wood, worked at the Dryden Mill for 31 years and was retired for 22 ½ years.
He bowled, belonged to the Moose and still belongs to the Oxdrift Legion Branch 41 and the Mill Union. His main interest was his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he babysat. John loved being outside working in the garden and his yard. His camping was sitting in the front yard and watching people go by.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 5th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.
A  Funeral service was held Friday, May 6th at the First United Church with Pastor Doug Brown officiating. Interment followed at the Oxdrift Cemetery.
A luncheon was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Dryden.
Pallbearers were Pleaman Randell, Gordon McKee, Ervin McKee, Rene Laderoute, Len Tuckey and Fred Doudiet, with a Legion Honour Guard.
