The Shaw Walleye Masters organizing committee has approached City of Dryden Mayor, Craig Nuttall, in hopes of informing the city of the rising progression of this year’s tournament and gaining city support.
Nuttall has agreed to attend an open forum to inform the general public about the size and stature of this year’s event.
The forum will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Best Western Sunset meeting room.  The forum is open to all the general public, and will be an opportunity to find out just how big this event is really going to be and encourage the City of Dryden, businesses, anglers and the general public to get involved.
It will also be a chance for the community to see how far the event has come, and learn Shaw’s plans for helicopter cameras, boom cameras, on-board boat cameras, and national television, not just regionally.
The tournament is in its 22nd year, taking place on the Wabigoon chain of  lakes, and is getting bigger every year.  There are currently 55 registrants, with the number growing daily.
Top prize for this year’s tournament is in excess of $18,000 in value, with a total prize payout of over $40,000.  Payouts are based on a 100 team entry.
Tournament dates for 2011 will continue the traditional pattern of Father’s Day weekend, and will take place on June 18 and 19.
This year’s event will host live entertainment and street vendors for shoppers.
