Observer Poll #8 Your best guess for open water on Wabigoon Lake

For the past century, the annual spring break-up on Wabigoon Lake has been an item of much entertaining speculation among the residents of Dryden and surrounding area. Detailed records on ice-out dates have been kept dating back as far as 1937. The lake has kept its ice as late May 24 (1950) and shed it’s hard winter coating as early as April 13, just last year in 2010. Every Drydenite likes to venture a guess, let’s see how the collective wisdom of a community compares with reality in 2011, shall we?
