As of 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, the Second Chance Pet Network was in first place in the $100,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything challenge.
Voting closed with the shelter in first, and although it appears the shelter is successful, there is still no confirmation from Pepsi.
Ann Owens, owner of Triple F Pet Supply, says notification was posted approximately three weeks following the closure of voting with confirmation. At press time, the shelter didn’t know when confirmation would be coming.
This is the third round of voting the group has participated in, and remained in the lead almost all the way throughout voting.
Second Chance members have been doing some research on property development, purchases of existing structures, and although this $100,000 grant will not be enough to cover all the expenses of a new shelter, it is a huge head start.
Unfortunately, the Dryden High School was not as lucky, and finished in 11th place with their application for the Drama students. DHS was competing for $25,000 and took them from 32nd place to 10th place at times. The group stalled at 11th and stayed in that spot to the end.
