SCPN Celebrates 2nd Anniversary
On Saturday, February 19th, Second Chance Pet Network celebrated our 2nd year in operation. It’s been a great learning curve since day 1, and will continue to be even greater as the days go on. SCPN has an adoption rate of around 85%. Something all volunteers there should be proud of.
The picture on the left shows 3 of our young volunteers getting ready to cut the first piece of cake. In the picture on the right hand side, Lucille Marion, left, one of our volunteers, and right, Heather Compardo, one of the driving forces behind the shelter, are shown cutting and serving the cake.
Since we began, we have started a Trap-Neuter-Release program at our local dumps, supply food to the food bank, run a low-cost spay-neuter clinic, and now we can micro-chip your pet. Clinics for this will be ran about once a month.
With a few days to go, we are in first place in the Pepsi Refresh program in the $100,000 category. What a big boost this would be towards the $250,000 we need to build a shelter. We have a preliminary plan for this posted on the wall at the shelter. Our build a shelter brick-by-brick campign is still going strong as ever.
At the present time we have about 45 cats at the shelter of all ages. If you’d like to adopt one please come down to 24 King Street. Although this is mainly a cat shelter, the newest ‘member’ is a two-tone brown coloured guinea pig that should be ready for adoption shortly.
If you would like to know more about the shelter, any of the programs we run, would like to donate or volunteer, you can call Anne at 223-3335 at Triple F Pet supply, Heather at 937-4751, or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can get back to you ASAP.
