The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday the format for the upcoming playoffs, which will commence following the conclusion of the regular season in late February.
Starting the first week of March all six SIJHL member clubs will compete in the postseason with each series slated as best-of-seven affairs.
In round one, the league regular season champion will take on the second place finisher with the winner earning the right to choose their opponent in the semifinals.
Other first round action will see the No. 3 seed taking on the No. 6 ranked squad while the No. 4 rated team will meet No. 5 overall.
From there the winner of the No. 1-2 series will take on the opponent of their choice while the losing club will tangle with the other quarterfinal participant in semifinal play.
Following that the two remaining clubs will square off in the battle for the league championship and the Bill Salonen Trophy.
The SIJHL champion will then advance to represent the league at the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. ‘A’ championship April 19-23 in Huntsville, ON.
