Obituaries — 28 January 2011
It is with a bittersweet sadness the family of Ross McGeachy announces he went to be with the Lord January 21, 2011.
Ross passed away at Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna.
Ross was born August 21, 1932 in Kenora Ontario.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Ken and Don; sister, Mryna and son, Gordon.
Ross is survived by his wife (of 54 years), Marjie; daughter, Teri (Joe); son, Cameron (Jeanine); grandsons, Joshua (Susan), Brendan and Dakotah and great granddaughter, Amelia Faye. He is also survived by his brother, Gary (Linda); sister-in-law, Grace and several nieces and nephews.
Ross received his education in Kenora where he excelled in track and field, boxing and was on the debate team. He was employed by WH Marr first in Kenora and later Dryden.
He joined the Dryden Paper Company in 1958 and remained there until his retirement in 1994.
In 1995 Ross and Marjie moved to the Okanagan Valley. Although northwestern Ontario remained dear to them and they travelled east every summer, they also loved BC and their family and friends there.
Ross had a zest for life and many interests including the outdoors, canoeing, woodcarving and a good book. He was a committed Christian and his faith impacted every area of his life.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Lakeview Heights Baptist Church, 2630 Alhambra Drive, West Kelowna.
