The seventh annual Come Together concert is scheduled for Monday Dec. 27 at the Centre in Dryden. Auditorium doors open at 6:30 and as you enter local pianist Alex Lugli will ease you into the program. Main show starts at 7 p.m.
Come Together is based on solid family entertainment. It is designed for those back in the community for the holiday season, for folks that have company in town and everyone looking for a great evening out.
Forty musicians will entertain you.
No show has been the same. This year out of 13 acts there will be only four from 2009.
First half of the program will start with six DHS musicians including a European exchange student that Preston Robinson has put together for this show. Back from his studies in Ottawa is Kyle Moonias who will be performing with Amanda Nisula. Dryden-born Thunder Bay resident Mauri Marchand will join brother Chris and girlfriend? Tammy Toneguzzi on stage.
Ethan Armit, another DHS student who has aspirations in a musical career, will showcase his talent.
Since it’s inception there has been a ‘Kellar’ in every Come Together.
In 2010, besides Carmen selling tickets at the door, Jordin, Landon and Rod will be back on stage.
Shanna Meadows returns, this time not as a student, but as a teacher with her amazing vocals and again backed up by Johlen Jordens, who is back home from Toronto.
Billed as the beginnings of the Dryden Philharmonic Orchestra, Guy Gallaway has taken up the cello. He has teamed up with the local amazing musician Peter Cortens for a two song set Last in the first half will be a double set with Shannyn Peters, and Paul Hampton. This Dryden born, Juno nominated keyboard player and singer has played professionally for 30 years.
As this is the Centennial Edition of Come Together a few grant dollars have come from the Dryden 2010 Centennial Committee via Canadian Heritage to off-set production costs. A special guest will attend on stage to set us straight. Then it is back to the music.
Two well known musicians, both from local musical families, Dave Thiel and Chris Marchand will back up Erik Bleich, back in town from Toronto / Chicago where he continues to make inroads in his music career .
Next on the program are the Teflons — Vince Kastrukoff, Doug Jordens and Bruce Siciliano.
Eagle River family band Loud As Rock are back with a longer set this year following a recent concert at The Centre that folks still rave about.
Producer Carl Bleich has ensured that music levels at this concert will be such that the instruments will not overtake the vocals.
The next act are still crossing their fingers that left-handed upside down right hand guitar picker Mark Schmidt will joining their band of musicians for this years show. And what a team he is in tune with: Dale Ripley on drums, Guenther and Dave Thiel, father / son / keyboard / bass combination. Joining the band this year with a beautiful voice from University of Brandon is Jill Martin. You don’t want to miss this act.
To round out this end of the year Centennial version of Come Together will be another local band called “The Usual Suspects”, featuring Terry Vezina, guitar / vocals; Derek Jansen on drums; Pat Ames, bass/vocals and Lloyd Napish, guitar and vocals. This will be their first appearance at this event. Proceeds of this annual concert go to purchase musical instruments and related equipment for the DHS music program. It will be a night to remember.
Tickets at $15 are available pre-concert at Lotto One, Golden Nectar and Walter’s Auto Body. Avoid the run around and get your ticket early; makes a great stocking stuffer. There should be tickets at the door. For information call 223-2841.
