Obituaries — 30 November 2010
William, Bill to his friends, was born to Daniel and Margaret Youmans, in Davidson, Sask. on March 31, 1936.
In a family of six children, he was the third boy. At an early age, the family moved to Fort William, now Thunder Bay, where they resided.
At the age of 18, Bill joined the RCAF and visited many places while serving his country. When in Ottawa, at Uplands Air Base, he met and married his other half, Helene Houle. They were married in 1956 and remained the best of friends till he passed away on the 20th of November, 2010.
He leaves to mourn his wife Helene; children Richard in Toronto, Jeffrey (Judy) of Winnipeg, his one daughter Jane (Danny) Jordens of Dryden, James (Jo-Anne) of Winnipeg; sisters Lillian Christie  and Jenafor (John) Atley both of Edmonton; one grandson Trevor Medicine of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Wilma and Phyllis. He was ever so proud of his two great-grandchildren Alex and Sienna Hardisty of Winnipeg.
He is predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Margaret; his two older brothers, Daniel and Arthur; his sister Yvonne, and only one month and ten days ago by his beloved granddaughter Clarissa Medicine of Winnipeg.
While in the Air Force, travelled with his family to Europe, being posted in Zweibrueken, where his two last children were born. After his return to Canada, Bill was posted in Chatham, NB from where he left the service. After moving back to Thunder Bay, Bill found employment in many towns and cities in Canada. He was at one time a very good hunter and fisherman and has provided many good meals for the family from both of his favourite pastimes.
He was a very good and happy bowler, during his many seasons at Timber Lanes, and enjoyed his travels with the bowling teams on the visits to Fort Frances, Atikokan, Thunder Bay and Medicine Hat. He also for many years, enjoyed getting up early to go golfing with his friend Ernie McDonald at the Evergreen Golf Course. He will be sadly missed.
Donations in his name may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre’s Equipment Fund.
Cremation has taken place, so there was no visitation or service.
A gathering of friends took place at the Communal Hall of the Eagle River Seniors Complex on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
