Midtown Square will see the arrival of two new tenants on Nov. 12. Current owners of Apatco Technologies, Gord Klink and Donna Despres have taken over the Sears franchise and will be reopening the store in its new downtown location.
Apatco Technologies will be moving where Trillium Gifts used to be, and the Sears franchise will be re-opening in the former pet store location.
Sears will be offering catalogue sales as well as in-store inventory. Although the clothing will not be stocked in-store, Klink says they will have a full line of appliances, as well as beds, snowblowers, lawnmowers, tools and a variety of other Sears products.
While the Hometown Store is locally owned and operated, all merchandise sold is supported by Sears Satisfaction Guarantee, as well as Sears extensive Parts and Service Division, the largest service network in Canada. In addition, the store features Sears and third-party credit card acceptance and a Sears Catalogue merchandise pick-up location.
“We’re asking people to be patient with us, as it will be a big learning curve for us and the staff,” says Klink.
Klink says they will be hiring new part time staff to employ the retail section of Sears, and will be maintaining all current staff from Apatco.
Inventory levels are to increase with Apatco, which focuses on computer sales, service and training, including Mac technology. This will enable customers to walk out with their purchase in-hand, and not have to wait for the items to be ordered.
The store will be open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
