Trevor Campbell and Joe Baxter, both of Dryden, competed in Bench for the Cure in Thunder Bay on October 9.
Hosted by Ben Thompson at Naturally Fit, the competition was a bench press and dead lift challenge, with Campbell taking first place in the lightweight division overall, and Baxter coming in at fourth.
Campbell bench pressed 335 pounds, and did a dead lift of 540 pounds achieving his personal best weights.
Baxter benched 245 pounds, and dead lifted 510 pounds, also his personal best.
Competing against eight other competitors in the lightweight division, the proceeds from the competition were donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The challenge was based on weights, rather than points, with their body being taken out of the lifted or benched weight. Baxter says there was some very strong competition this time, and feels that himself and Campbell did a great job.
The duo plan to compete in the next Bench for the Cure being held in Thunder Bay next spring.
