Sports & Recreation — 20 October 2010
On Oct. 25, Canadians will begin voting for their favourite team spirit video to send an entire minor hockey team rink-side —including coaches and parents/guardians—to the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, NY.
The Tim-Br Mart World Junior Hockey Video Challenge (which opened in May this year) asks minor hockey teams to video their team spirit and tell why they should be guests of Tim-Br Mart for four days at the upcoming World Juniors in December. New this year is the downloadable Tim-Br Mart Anthem, the only music teams can use in their submission. Videos can be uploaded to timbrtube.ca. Once published, Canadians will vote for their favourite beginning Oct. 25th 12:00:01am EDT.
The team submitting the winning entry will enjoy roundtrip transportation to Buffalo, NY, accommodations, meals and tickets to World Juniors games over Dec. 27 – 30, 2010; a prize worth $60,000, if won by an Alberta team, for example. Also new to The Challenge this year is the addition of Source for Sports, a Canadian independent sports equipment retailer, as a second, third and wildcard Prize Sponsor, offering gift cards in the amounts of $5,000, $2,500 and $2,500 respectively.
Team members must be between the ages of 7 and 17 inclusive and the designated team entrant be age-of-majority in his/her province or territory of residence. Voting will begin Oct. 25, 2010 and end Nov. 25, midnight EST, which is also when the contest closes. Prize-winning entrants will be contacted within three days to make travel arrangements.
Customers who want to know more about the Tim-Br Mart World Junior Hockey Video Challenge can visit Timbermax located at 329 Government St. in Dryden and ask the World Juniors In-Store Champion for more details.
The Tim-Br Mart World Junior Hockey Video Challenge is a component of Tim-Br Mart’s major sponsorship of the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship, for the second year in a row.
Canadians from coast to coast will be cheering Team Canada as they compete against the best teams from around the world.
