With the municipal elections upon us, there are a few key facts and information for people to remember when voting.
Completed voting kits should no longer be mailed to city hall, but instead should be delivered to the municipal office to ensure they are received and processed on time.
If you have not received a voting kit, or are need to find out if you’re on the voters list, you can attend the ballot return revision centre located upstairs at city hall Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Extended hours for October 25, voting day, will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If you are not on the list, you can still receive a voting kit by bringing in identification showing your name, qualifying address and signature to city hall, and signing a revision form and declaration.
If you have spoiled your ballot, you may attend the revision centre as well, bringing in your spoiled kit when possible, and filling out an amendment form, taking a declaration, and you will be issued a replacement kit.
For those who do not have proper identification, you can still receive a voters kit by attending the revision centre, filling out a declaration of identity which qualifies you as an elector.
If you are not sure if you completed the declaration properly, call or visit the revision centre at city hall to find out.  If the kit was rejected, then you are not registered as having voted.  You can be issued a replacement kit and still have your vote count.
As the election is completely vote by mail, the only facilities that will be offered travelling ballot boxes will be Princess Court and Patricia Gardens.  City staff will be on hand for reduced hours at both locations on October 25 for the convenience of the residents.
Inside the voters kit you will find an instruction sheet, your declaration, which is perforated and removable, your ballot and a secrecy envelope.
Your marked ballot should be the only thing that goes inside the white secrecy envelope.  The declaration as well as the secrecy envelope are to be inserted into the yellow envelope for return to the municipal office.
Upon receipt by city staff, the yellow envelope is opened to receive your declaration, and you are then crossed off the voters list as having voted.  The white secrecy envelope containing only your ballot is placed into a separate ballot box to be opened on Election Day.
On October 25, ballots will all be run through an electronic voting tabulator, which will scan the ballots and form an unofficial printout at the close of polls.
The public is welcome to join city staff at the Dryden Library the evening of October 25 to find out the unofficial results upon completion.
On the ballot you will find the candidates for mayor and council.  For voters registered under the English Public School Board, you will find the candidates for Trustee.  For those registered under the English Separate School Board or either of the French Boards, the trustee candidates will not be on the ballot, all trustees in these boards were acclaimed.
If you have more questions, you can reach Colleen Brousseau at the city office by calling 223-1147 or 223-1127.  You can also email Colleen at cbrousseau@dryden.ca.
