The DHS Boys’ Hockey team traveled to Glenboro, MB this past weekend (Oct 22/23) and finished 3rd with a two-win, one loss record in the Wildcats 10th Annual Tournament.
The team traveled with a reduced squad as several football and volleyball players could not make the trip.
Game #1 held on Fri., Oct. 22 vs Transcona Titans saw a 5-3 win for DHS. Kale Kuzemchuk had three goals and Kim Wildhaber stopped 47 shots for win.
Game #2 on Fri., Oct. 22 vs Mountain Mustangs saw 6-0 loss for DHS. The team played a very undisciplined game and gave up three power play goals. The team seemed fatigued as they were out shot 40-10. Zach Lake played well in net despite the loss and he made the first save on most occasions.
Game #3 was held on Sat., Oct. 23 vs Souris Sabres and resulted in a 9-0 win for DHS.
Corbin Donais scored three times and Ben Bazylewski scored twice. Lake and Wildhaber shared goaltending duties to preserve the shutout.
For the first three games of the season and only having part of our team, we did well. We will have a few more players out this weekend during our home tourney and hope to improve upon the results from Glenboro.
