Tuesday, Oct. 19 saw a gathering of Dryden Police Service members to honour their officers, civilians and community members.

Inspector Kevin Glenister and Chief Shayne MacKinnon welcomed the group, including retired Chief Riley, followed by the list of staff with exemplary attendance at work.
Two special awards were presented, the first being a Certificate of Appreciation to Reino Huitika, former Dairy Queen owner.  Huitika has donated certificates all summer to the Dryden Police Service (DPS) for free ice cream cones for those children “caught” wearing their helmets while on bicycles, skateboards and roller blades.
Following that, Russell Trott was presented with a Commendation Award for his bravery and courage along with assisting the DPS, following the discovery of a youth who had broken into his home.
The evening turned to staff at that time, where many service awards were presented for dedicated employment.
Five Years Service – Terry Menard
10 Years Service – Janet Kaus, Lesley-Ann Norman
15 Years Service – Scott Silver
25 Years Service – Kevin Glenister, Nancy Murdick
The evening closed with some words of remembrance of Ottoline Owen, and closing remarks from Inspector Glenister.
