Dryden’s Kevin Raine suited up for his first regular season games with the London Knights over the weekend.
Raine wore the number 20 jersey for the club’s 3 – 2 shoot-out win over the Plymouth Whalers and subsequent overtime win against the Sarnia Sting the following night.
Raine had played four out of five exhibitions games in preseason with the Knights.
“I sat out for the first one, I think to allow me to watch,” says Raine.  “I had never even seen an OHL game up until these ones, never mind play in one and being that the rink is so big, they wanted me to see it from the stands rather than the ice first.  I think that was smart of them.”
Doing very well in preseason, Raine found himself on the roster in regular season for the southern Ontario OHL team.  With a couple fights under his belt, and a broken nose, Raine is ready to take on the challenges of advanced league.
“I got caught with a left, and took a fight with somebody I probably shouldn’t have, but it’s all good,” laughs Raine.
Raine commented that the player and coach relationships are a lot more professional with the OHL, and the coach is not so much your friend as he is your coach.  The young defenceman says it’s all about business with the London Knights.
With not a lot of off-ice communication, Raine sat in anticipation awaiting word whether he would be suiting up for regular season, and is now officially a London Knight.
Raine started his career watching Chris Pronger, and with help from Pronger along the way, Raine moved into a role with the Dryden Ice Dogs.
Raine also played for the Kenora Thistles AAA Midget program and was selected in the 7th round  of the OHL draft in May 2010.
