Obituaries — 28 September 2010
In loving memory of Edith Frances Hill, age 78 of Dryden, who passed away on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with her family by her side.
Edith was born and raised near Meaford, Ontario. She graduated in nursing from Owen Sound Hospital and University of Western Ontario. In 1959 moved to Dryden and has resided here since.
Edith is survived by her son Gordon, daughter Frances, brother Mervin Eaton, sister-in-law Diane Mason (Edgar) and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Charles Hill, twin sister Elsie Mae Eaton, and sister-in-law Wilda Eaton.
Edith was a member of the First United Church. She was a very good baker and Princess Court will miss her great butter tarts. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and her nurses association to the fullest.
We all benefited from her skill with a needle. She made all of her quilts by hand. She crocheted many challenging patterns and knit for the kids and self. Edith was an avid reader, reading a huge variety of genres. She was also a great nurse, working at the DDGH for 22 years.
There was no Visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, September 10th, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel, with Alice Bloomfield officiating.
Interment followed.
