According to Blake Poole, Manager of Capital Planning and Technology for the City of Dryden, the construction is proceeding on schedule, and looking at no delay in completion.
“The project is proceeding well, opening date is still October 15, and the project is on schedule,” says Poole.
Currently, all the girders and steel are in place and crews are onsite this week pouring the deck slab. Still to come will include additional concrete pours, finishing the approach slabs, sidewalks and the asphalt decking.
Poole also reports there have been some complaints of congestion, but no major issues with traffic concerns, and to his knowledge, no conflicts with emergency services.
The overpass construction began on July 19, closing the entire bridge to traffic. The bridge was seeing serious states of deterioration, due to its almost fifty years of service, and the City of Dryden applied to Connecting Link for funding to replace the aging structure.
The entire bridge was demolished, leaving only the pier structure beneath, and is being completely rebuilt, from the bottom up. Alternate routes are available on Sandy Beach Road, Gordon Road, as well as the King Street underpass.
