She leaves behind her loving children, Will (Sandy) of Edmonton, AB, Mike (Dyane) of Red Deer, AB, Marlene  Noll (Grant )of Calgary, AB, Greg (Michelle) of Kenora, ON, and Tom (Karen) of Craigmore, NS. She will be forever missed by her 11 grandchildren, Davis, Cole, Kelsey (Brennen), Kristi (Cody), Lee, Vanessa, Nick, Aden, Scott, Sara (Matt), Melanie and her great grandson Max.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Charlotte and Bjarne Rasmussen, brothers Ralph and Laverne and sister Edith Wright (Cliff). She is survived by her brother Darrell (Shirley), her sister Marjorie MacDonald (John) and sister-in-law Norma; her brothers-in-law Bob and Don Wagar (Carol) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was born in Big Beaver, SK where her family farmed. She went to Red Stone School and then Big Beaver High School. She completed her Licensed Practical Nursing in Regina, SK. Travelling between Moose Jaw and Regina she met and then married Arnold Ross Wagar in 1956. She lived and worked as a nurse in Moose Jaw, SK where she had her first 3 children Will, Mike and Marlene. She then moved to Zweibrucken, Germany where her husband was stationed with the Royal Canadian Air Force and they continued to add to their family 2 more children, Greg and Tom. After 4 years they returned to Winnipeg, MB where Sylvia worked as an LPN at the Grace Hospital for 13 years. Arny and Sylvia retired to be ranchers in Dyment, Ontario in 1978. Sylvia then took several jobs in the Dyment Area including Broda Construction until 2001.

Sylvia always had a positive attitude and never had a bad word to say about anyone. It was her positive attitude and motto “Do unto others as you would have them do to you“ that we will always remember about Sylvia. She always saw the roses in the vase and not the dust on the table. She was a wonderful caregiver as wife, mother, nurse, grandmother and great grandmother and cared for her in-laws for many years. She was a farmer at heart and cared for her Herford cattle as well. Sylvia also loved to crochet, garden and made the best bread ever! She was able to travel to her roots in Norway with her older sister in 2003. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church and her faith and friends she found beside her meant the world to her.

We would like to thank Carol Wagar for all her help and support caring for Sylvia in her final days and all the love and support of family and friends.

A memorial service was held on Friday, July 30th at 3 pm in Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Dryden. Interment took place at Mountain View Cemetery in Dyment, Ontario.
