Sten Lif, Chief Administrative Officer has chosen to retire after twelve great years with the Kenora District Services Board (KDSB).
Having been a part of KDSB since its beginning in 1998, Lif was hired as a consultant to develop the organization and prepare some options of how to run the company. Lif submitted his resignation for May 31, 2011.
“The only reason I’m retiring at this point in time is because it’s time,” jokes Lif. “By the time I retired in May, I’ll be 65. It’s time for some new blood in here.”
Lif plans on taking some time for himself following his resignation date, and the future is up in the air after doing some relaxing.
“It’s been very interesting considering where we were, and where we’ve got to in twelve years.”
Lif says he will miss the daily contact with the senior staff, but hopes for bigger and better things for them all as well as the organization.
Although not a golfer, Lif says he doesn’t mind taking his frustrations out on the driving range once in a while.
Lif announced his retirement at the August 12th Board Meeting. Although Lif will be sorely missed by all staff and board members, the attendees went around the table and wished him well, offering congratulations and condolences to the loss for the company.
Lif has been a dedicated and efficient member of the KDSB family and he will leave some very large shoes to fill for his successor.
KDSB, funded by the local municipalities as well as the governments, is a very rewarding organization. The company has the pleasure of helping those in need on a daily basis.
KDSB is responsible for the financial services of Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Child Care and Social Housing at the time of Ministerial designation as well as becoming responsible for the delivery of the Ontario Works program.
Responsibility for delivery and finance of the Land Ambulance service commenced on January 1, 2001 along with the responsibility of delivering the public housing portfolio of the Social Housing program. Responsibility for administering the non-profit housing portfolio commenced on January 1, 2002.
